Here in Southern California, fall doesn’t feel all that different from the rest of the seasons of the year. While temperatures will drop slightly, we don’t exactly experience fall colors and crisper air. We are fortunate to be able to enjoy the sunshine all year long, but if you’re looking for ways to make this season feel more fall and festive, we’ve got you covered.
A small and simple way to make your days feel more like fall is by adding some fall decor to your home. In preparation for the holidays, it might be fun to get some new decorations. Adding more natural, earthy tones to your house can quickly make it feel more cozy. Set out some blankets, light some candles, and use a red-brown color palette to transition your home into fall.
Nothing feels more like fall than a warm dinner with people you love. If you feel like you are missing out on the joys of fall being in SoCal, simply have your friends over for a potluck-style dinner party. With your new fall decor, everyone is sure to feel the fall vibes.
This fall activity is popular for good reason. We may not have cold enough weather to wear a nice, warm sweater to the pumpkin patch, but you’re likely to get all the fall feels while at the pumpkin patch. With scarecrows, pumpkins, and hay all around, it’s hard to feel robbed of the season’s joys.
Whether you live by the beach or not, you’re bound to experience a little bit of a chill in the morning. Taking a walk outside while it’s still a little dark out is a nice way to unwind and enjoy the gift of cool air. The fall chill may dissipate as the sun rises, but at least we can enjoy it for a few hours each morning!
Fall foods are in full force. Stop off at your local grocery store to see what seasonal and festive options are available. Bring all the ingredients to make a charcuterie board for you and your friends to enjoy. Throw in some pumpkin butter for some added flair!
Take your kids or your friends out to an apple orchard to harvest some apples for fall. This is prime apple season, and you can use them to make your own apple pie! If apple pie isn’t your thing, make some homemade apple butter or apple cider that you can enjoy with the people you love.
If you feel like you need to escape the fast-pace of Los Angeles, take a weekend getaway into the hills of California. While it may not feel like fall on the coastal side of SoCal, there are plenty of woods and forests that you can travel to in order to enjoy some fall foliage. The further north you go, the more you’ll see fall colors.
Enjoy the fall without the freeze! In California, we are lucky enough to get sunshine most of the year, but that doesn’t mean we can’t embrace the fall vibes! Check one of these items off of your list this fall to make the most of this season.
